Re-Inspired in February

Towards the end of last year, I really wasn’t in a great place. I wrote a couple of blog posts expressing my disillusion and how I felt unmotivated.

I thought I’d update you to how February went for me.

Not only am I finding it really therapeutic to note down how I’m feeling and where I am right now in my life, I also want to reach out to those who might be feeling similar.

This month I decided to take back control of my life. And it’s working so far.

Getting fit

I started back at the gym in the middle of January and I honestly couldn’t be happier that I made that decision. It may sound cliche but I don’t care.

I’ve realised that having something to focus on and work towards, other than work, helps so much with my mental wellbeing.

It’s incredible how far I’ve come in the past few weeks. It may not sound much to some, but I’ve amazed myself with the small achievements I’ve made.

The best part? I’ve not lost much weight AND I’m still super fucking happy. Am I finally feeling positive about my body?

This morning I've woken up with a blocked ear but I'm not going to let that kill my vibe.🙅 . Recently I've become obsessed with wearing black and white stripes. They're so simple and easy to chuck on in a hurry, yet still look stylish. 🤷🏻‍♀️ . . . #retro #vintage #blogger #bloggerlife #bloggerproblems #bloglife #blogginggals #thegirlgang #photosinbetween #thehappynow #personalstyleblog #personalstyleblogger #personalstyle #retromakeup #retrobeauty #vintageinspired #redlips #retroblogger #vintagestyle #retrolook #smallbiz #retrofashion #retrostyle #style #weekendvibes #fifties #pinup #girlboss #positivevibes

Minimalism

Anyone who knows me would scoff at me if I told them I was trying out ‘minimalism’. However, I’m not saying that I’m chucking out all of my pretty dresses and tacky ornaments, but I am taking steps to simplify my life every day.

Admittedly, this is hard when you house share. But, I’m working hard towards decluttering my mind and my own personal space.

This means I’m writing down my thoughts and making lists of my to-dos so they don’t clutter up my head. I’m also being more mindful of how I spend my time and money.

If you’re interested in me writing a whole separate blog post on this, please let me know.

I love having a bit of a refresh. I'm loving yellow and grey at the moment, perfect for looking forward to spring. Self-care

After reflecting on my life at the beginning of this month, I realised that I always tend to put my own needs last. This month, I’ve taken conscious steps to look after myself, spend time with loved ones and just ponder on my own.

I can’t express how much this has made a difference to me. This also ties in with what I said about going to the gym and minimalism. Having an hour or so each day (or even every other day) to focus on myself really helps me to re-focus for the next day.

Had an awesome afternoon at @tessies__ shooting with @charleylucy. 📸📸📸 Quickly snapped this amazing quote that I think we should all take on board. Today I've managed to do my first ever three point turn, my first set of lunges and ran further than I ever have before. Super happy with myself! 💪🚗 . . . #smallbiz #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocal #hull #hull2017 #hullstyle #hullfashion #hullbloggers #hullphotographer #amaturephotographer #fashionphotography #peoplephotography #quotes #bodypositivity #bodypositivebabe #feminism #girlpower #health #fitness #progressnotperfection #grlpwr #loveyourself #effyourbeautystandards #selfcare #freelance #photosinbetween #thehappynow

Re-inspired

I’m feeling super inspired this month and I’m not quite sure what has brought this on. Basically, I feel extremely motivated with my blog, my work and even my appearance. I think it might be down to the fact I spent a week in London with my parents. We walked around Shoreditch and Brick Lane for the first time and all these feelings rushed through me.

I really do think time away from your usual day-to-day life can do a lot to refresh you.
