Hull Yum! Food Festival 2014

I only spent an hour or so at Yum! Food Fest in Victoria Square, Hull but still managed to soak in the warm inviting atmosphere and grab a delicious handmade cookie whilst I was busy taking photos for this very post! I was invited to blog at Yum! after blogging for Hull Fashion Week and although I’m not a food blogger I do love food so I jumped at the opportunity. Below are some of my pictures which really do speak for themselves at what local delights were on offer.

Download Festival 2014

I spent last weekend with my best friend at the wonderful Download Festival in Donington Park, Derby and once again absolutely loved it. The main stage headliners were Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and Aerosmith amongst some other great bands such as Fall Out Boy, Steel Panther and Skindred. The weather was for once lovely and didn’t rain too much – I even managed to get sunburn. I got to see 2 of my favourite bands as a teenager – Fall Out Boy and Avenged Sevenfold who were amazing. Take a peek at some of the photos I took over the weekend of the gorgeous food stands, the bands and the stages.
Lovely food stalls and a new seating area

Hull Fashion Week – Meeting the Bloggers

This is my final instalment from Hull Fashion Week Finale and I thought I’d finish the series of posts of with some pictures from the day as well as the lovely bloggers I met there. The day was overall a brilliant day and I got, for the first time, to meet fellow bloggers and found out some of them live so close to me in both Lincolnshire and Yorkshire! There were some amazing stalls and boutiques (which I posted about here) and an amazing photo booth that Kate from Pieces Of Kate, Lucy from Lucy Jane Webb and I took full advantage of! We had our own table which was really cool and it was strange to feel ‘comfortable’ about blogging because of the lanyards we had – normally I get embarrassed if I’m ‘instagramming’, tweeting or taking photos for my blog in public. I also treated myself to a lovely t-shirt from Thieving Harry’s and got some lovely samples from the women at Tigi.

Hull Fashion Week | The Top Outfits

I thought I would do a post on my favourite outfits from the Hull Fashion Week Finale Catwalks! It was so hard to choose from as there were so many lovely clothes but I managed to narrow it down to 6.

As mentioned in my last post on Hull Fashion Week, this was my favourite outfit from the slot that I had to cover. I love the 1960’s retro feel to this outfit, it reminds me of a coat I saw at the York Castle Sixties Exhibition which I posted about here. It’s so summery and something you could definitely wear this summer.
The second outfit I’ve chosen is also one from my slot. It’s such a simple but effective outfit using monochrome which I think is in this season (it’s in every season!). I don’t normally love hats however I think this model pulls the look off great. Also, I HAVE THAT AMAZING TSHIRT!

If you know me you know I have a thing for polka dots so naturally I fell in love with this polka dot summer dress with lace trim. I feel this dress would be perfect for a summer’s day picnic or walk in the park, who’s with me?

I think this is a really great ‘festival-type’ look that is really proving popular. I love the floral dress and the clash of colour with the red denim jacket. Also, the jacket has tartan detail which I am always a bit partial to!

If my memory serves me right this was a rework piece, I think it is a bit short however it would be great on a hot summers day the lace and the floral and the dusky pink are so pretty!

The last outfit I have chosen is this brilliant casual vintage look, again a great summer outfit and looks effortless but still lovely.

Hull Fashion Week Finale | Leaders in Hull’s Fashion Legacy Catwalk

I was lucky enough to be invited to blog at the Hull Fashion Week Finale on Saturday and the slot I was given to cover was the ‘Leaders in Hull’s fashion legacy’ which was the first catwalk of the day. The show kicked off with a fabulous Lindy Hop by students from Hull College and then models showed off clothes of Hulls finest and longest-established retailers including Beasley’s, Hugh Rice and Leonard Silver. I was so happy to be given this slot as this was probably my favourite catwalk as it included a lot of vintage and retro pieces. Many of the outfits would be perfect to wear in summer or at a festival, especially the 1960’s playsuits you’ll see below. I also loved the formal menswear section of the catwalk and I think the pieces like the grey suit and the pin-stripe jacket could really stand out at a formal occasion this summer. The girls’ hair and makeup were great: plenty of victory rolls and red lipstick which are so fun to have in the summer as well as all year round!

Dancing Models: I particularly loved the way this group of models were dressed- especially that mint green dress!

The fisherman’s sweaters looked so cosy and I think these would look amazing on both men and women

Fishermen sweaters

Fisherman’s Jumper

I think these outfits were my favourite outfits of the day – Both have a 60’s feel and would be amazing in summer
Particularly this orange playsuit which reminds me of the outfits at the Sixties Exhibition at York Castle Museum

Beasley’s Menswear – Fabulous pinstripe jacket

The catwalk also showed off some amazing prom dress designed

And finished promoting the local ‘Hull Is Where The Heart Is Tee’s’ made by Thieving Harry’s
