With party season just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to be scouting out your perfect dress or outfit, whether you’re attending the annual family get together, a wild night out with work, or just want to get into the festive spirit with a new frock. That’s why I was over the moon when Simply Be got in touch wanting me to review some pieces from their new party range.

If you’re unaware of the company, Simply Be are an online clothing store who stock women’s fashion from a wide range of exciting brands in sizes 12 – 32. With lots of celebrations coming up, I chose this amazing creation by Voodoo Vixen.
I’m already a huge fan of Voodoo Vixen, a retro reproduction brand who sell gorgeous modern pieces inspired by the past. If you’ve been here before you may remember the review of their Lilian dress that I wrote a few months ago, if you’re new here you may want to check that out here.
Classic polka dots are a staple in many a vintage-lovers wardrobe, so naturally this piece jumped out at me when browsing the Simply Be website. The ruby taffeta of the Eliza Dress is even more stunning when accompanied by the flocked black spots, and the twosome give the dress an all-over luxurious feel. I love brands that go the extra mile; they could have just used a simple printed cotton, but Voodoo have gone one step further with this beautiful and eye-catching detailing.
The Eliza dress is stocked in sized L – 4XL on Simply Be, which works out roughly at about 14 – 22. I ordered this one in an XL, which fitted me almost perfectly, aside from possibly needing a little more lee-way around my mid-region (but I’ll blame my love for cheese and not Voodoo for this). Still, the material has a comfortable stretch that flatters curves and skims over the body, whilst still accentuating your best bits!
Now, let’s get onto the cut of this fabulous frock! Obviously inspired by the mid-century this dress is designed to give the wearer an hour-glass shape, my personal favourite.
A sweetheart neckline is always super flattering on me, I’m not exactly gifted when it comes to boobies, but this dress helps them out a lot. Meanwhile, the cut-out back sits perfectly without exposing any of your undergarments – although I am aware that my left strap is on show in the photo, but that’s just me being clumsy. This is a big winner for me as the amount of dresses I fall in love with that turn out to be backless is so frustrating. Finally, the full swishy skirt makes you feel very feminine, another box ticked by Voodoo!
I’ve paired the dress with a simple pin-up inspired makeup look, my trusty vintage bag from Camden Market and some old chunky heels that I dug out the back of my wardrobe. I like the chunky heels with such a feminine dress, I think it gives it a child-like mini mouse feel to the outfit.
Again, you can find the Eliza dress along with heaps more gorgeous party dresses on the Simply Be website. I did receive this dress for free but all opinions are my own, please read my disclaimer for more information.
