We all deserve a treat now and again, but I feel like we’re increasingly falling into the habit of relying on money to make us happy. Personally, I don’t have as much spare cash as I used to, so I’ve had to really re-consider the ways in which I treat myself after a long week. You can practice self-care without breaking the bank. Here are just a few things you can try:
Invite your friends over.
Instead of heading to the pub or going out for a meal, why not invite your friends over for some quality time? Catch up over a cup of tea and just enjoy each others company.
Take a bath.
There’s no better treat than spending a bit of time to look after yourself. And, you don’t really need to spend a tonne of money at Lush to enjoy a nice soak (although that’s fun too). I’m pretty sure everyone has one product in their bathroom cupboard that you’ve been saving for a special occasion – well that time is now!
Do your nails.
On the same note, grab your favourite nail varnish and treat your tootsies to a bit of TLC.
Sometimes, the last thing I want to do after a long day at work is get all sweaty, but, it honestly makes me so much better. Whatever you choose to do, whether it’s heading to the gym, going for a walk or doing some yoga, I promise it’ll feel like a treat.
Again, this is another activity that will pay off later. A clean, tidy space always makes me feel relaxed. Spend some time putting things where they belong, decluttering your space and you might find that you feel a lot better.
Watch your favourite film.
With so much choice on what to watch nowadays, I often forget about the films I genuinely love. Plan an evening in, stick your fave flick on and chill out.
Take a nap.
If all else fails, I frequently find that taking a nap is one of the best ways I can treat myself. Take a nap, have a lie-in, treat yourself to some beauty sleep.
There are so many other ways you can treat yourself without spending your pennies. Do you have any tips? Share them in the comments below or tweet me.
