bareMinerals has fast become one of my favourite beauty brands ever since I first nervously perched on a swivel chair at their makeup counter three years ago. When I saw this Natural Sunscreen on FeelUnique, I knew I had to try it out. A powder suncream, though? Would it work or would I burn?
Recently, my mum and I went chasing some winter sun in beautiful Fuerteventura. It was the perfect opportunity to try this handbag-sized bareMinerals UVA/UVB protective powder.
Now, I’ve seen and owned foundations and moisturisers with an SPF in them, but never heard of a sun blocker in powder form.
What an ingenious idea! No more greasy, sticky skin to deal with.
At first, I was a little concerned that it wouldn’t work; bareMinerals is a makeup brand, not a sun care brand, so I was a little apprehensive.
But, how wrong could I have been? It did work and there was only one day where I had to use liquid sunscreen on my face and this was in the afternoon, after several hours of wearing this.
I think it’s important to point out that, although this product says that it’s suitable for “Face and Body”, I only applied it to my face and neck. Due to the size of the brush, it would have taken a long time to ensure my whole body was covered.
The product is also a little orange in colour, as you can probably tell from the photo. However, blended correctly into tanned skin, the powder allows your face to effortlessly glow. In fact, thanks to this and my Freshly Baked tan, I looked sufficiently bronzed from day one of my holiday – that’s what we want, right?
Another thing I was impressed with was the fact it didn’t completely mask your skin. I get a few freckles when in a hot, windy climate and, now I’ve grown up, I quite like them! This sunscreen, like all bareMinerals products, allows your skin to breathe and look its best, without covering up your features.
Overall, I would definitely buy this product again. It suited my needs and was good value for money considering the price of suncream and the usual price of bareMinerals’ products. The only thing that is stressing me out is the fact that it isn’t available on the bareMinerals website – will it be discontinued soon?
